“Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established” (Proverbs 16:3)
The commentaries on this verse say that the phrase “Commit your work to the Lord” as used here means literally “roll them upon Him” in the same way as a man transfers a burden too heavy for him to carry from his own back to one stronger and better able to bear it.
What a beautiful picture – carrying something to heavy, and having someone come alongside you to roll it off your back onto His!
KJV says that “your thoughts shall be established” rather than “your plans will be established.”
I think that is am important perspective – we don’t want to just focus on our plans – our thoughts about those plans are the center of the bullseye, and what this said to me was that once you place your plans into God’s hands, he will align your thoughts with His so that whatever the plan is, it will be according to His will.
We need to hold our plans with an open hand, giving room for them to change according to how God would have us proceed
