Spiritual Procrastination

Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.” (Genesis 22:2)

Procrastination.

It is a disease we ALL have.

You know the feeling when there is a prompting from the Spirit to do something. Apologize to someone you know you hurt, making a phone call to someone to see how they are doing or pray with them, write a letter, visit a neighbor. The list is endless but often our response is to put it on our list to do later, when it’s more convenient. In many cases “later” never arrives and when our head hits the pillow we remember what we had promised ourselves (or God) we would do.

We are part of a much larger team with one Leader.

Christ is working out a plan here on this planet that has eternal consequences. Part of that plan is moving pieces around on the board to accomplish His purposes. and He is looking for people that will step up and move when prompted. If we don’t and continually put Him off then He will find someone else who will.

This is not a salvation issue – I’m not talking about losing our eternal position. That was finished 2,000 years ago on the cross.

What we’re discussing is what we will do for the Kingdom over the course of our life here before we join Him in eternity. There is a whole planet of people who need the same salvation as we have.

Most of the promptings we have, when they are boiled down, involve us displaying some aspect of Christ to others.

Commit today to developing a spiritual muscle that responds quickly when we know the Spirit is asking us to move in a tangible way for the Kingdom.
