Be diligent to present yourself approved to God,
a worker who does not need to be ashamed,
rightly dividing the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15)
Am I learning how to use my Bible? Perhaps this quote below from Oswald Chambers expressed best how we are to view the awesomeness of Scripture:
The way to become complete for the Master’s service is to be well soaked in the Bible; some of us only exploit certain passages. Our Lord wants to give us continuous instruction out of His word; continuous instruction turns hearers into disciples. (Oswald Chambers, from “Approved Unto God”)
Scripture is the tool God has provided for us to dive deeply into. It isn’t a manual we put into a drawer only to pull it out when we feel stuck or need help, or assembly instructions we read once and throw away, but a DAILY resource that gives us the tools for life.
It isn’t just for fixing things, but it provides profound knowledge of God and His ways so we understand how to navigate the ins and outs of this temporal life here, and to prepare us for living with Him in eternity.
One who works in the trades has his tool belt on him at all times so he can pull out what is needed for a particular task. We should likewise read and memorize His Word so we have our spiritual toolbelt stocked, loaded and ready for when we need to pull out His word to help us in any and all circumstances.
