Rejoice for Today

“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24)

Now it really feels like the new year is here. The first couple weeks of the year have been fairly quiet and slow as far as work goes, but now people are getting back into their to do list and things that need to be taken care of, so my inbox is starting to fill more.

Today promises to be a full day with many demands and projects to be done. As I’m up for my morning devotions, I’m taking a moment to enjoy the quiet house, anticipating the winter weather that are here, and know that in the next 12-16 hours that stretch in front of me is the day that the Lord has made. A day filled with hope and promise as every new morning is. An opportunity to take control of my mind and spirit and look for ways to see God in the everyday. He’s there, but sometimes we need to look over our phones to see it.

It’s hard when we get up and settled in for the day not go to God with your checklist for the day of what you want Him to accomplish. Obstacles in your way? Thank Him for those and ask for His wisdom to either get around or through them! They may be there for a purpose. Too busy today – be thankful for your job – there are many who would love to have our problems.

All of us, no matter what our station in life is, have much we can be grateful for. The enemy would have us see what we don’t have. I prefer to start today by being thankful for today and rejoicing in this day!
