Thankful

“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace.” Ephesians 1:7

Our gratitude (thanksgiving) should be centered on one event, and one only: Not just that God has forgiven us, but the cost behind it:

The Cross.

And yet, not just the cross. Like a movie that lets us see a singular event from different points of view, think of the Cross not just by thinking about the depth of that sacrifice by Christ, but also thinking of God watching His only Son take on our sins.

Those two viewpoints of that event should shake us to our very core.

But it was necessary for God to remain faithful and true to Him being able to fairly judge humanity when we all stand before Him.

We’ve all been witness to or seen news stories of unfair justice (or lack of justice) in our world. We must be thankful that we:

  1. Serve a faithful God who will always mete out justice fairly when it comes to our eternal destination; and
  2. that Christ paid the price to spare us from God’s eternal justice.

“For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ…” (1Thes 5:9 )
