Who da Boss?

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”(Romans 8:28)

Have you ever had a difficult boss to work for and try to “discuss” with them about how they run things, trying to offer you view of how it could be done better? Some of us have had that experience and it rarely ends well. Why? Because they are the boss and you aren’t, and they usually have their own interests at heart.

We do the same with God. We don’t like the way things are being run, so we debate with Him about his management style, questioning His decisions to act, or many times what seems His lack of taking action.

There is a fundamental part of this we overlook, which is that He has our best interests at heart, and His will is for our best.

That is not to say our best means “our best life now”, but it’s our best ETERNAL life.

Often our struggle means we fail to enjoy that peace now, resting in the knowledge that He loves us, wants the best for us, and is working behind the scenes for our good. That knowledge should help us through what can seem like the worst of times. As I look back over my life I can see how God was working in my life not only when things were going good, but when they weren’t.

Having and displaying that peace to those around you is one of the most powerful ways you can witness Christ operating in your life to others.
