“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
This verse reminds we of when we get to sit and rest after a hard day of work. Sometimes we don’t realize just how tired we are until we sit and rest.
Life can hit us that way too – sometimes we don’t really know what we are carrying until we put it down and rest. THAT is the hope Christ brings to the world, and what others around us should see in us. They should see a response to life that is different than theirs. They should wonder why we don’t act like we have as many burdens as others.
What is it that gives us that peace, grace and joy in the midst of what seems impossible to carry on? We should have the answer to that question at the ready on our lips to share with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors or anyone else who might ask us why we don’t seem to be as weighed down by life as they would expect.
“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7)
