You are those who have stood by me in my trials. (Luke 22:28)
The daily life of a follower of Christ is meant to be filled with hope no matter what we face. We serve a God who has the best plan for us – the best ETERNAL plan, even when it doesn’t look like it from an earthly perspective.
Life on this planet at times can be rough. Like the 70’s song, “I never promised you a rose garden” Jesus tells us “In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
But note that he doesn’t just tell us “Sorry, your life is going to be hard.” He also tells us that HE has overcome the world. That means when we lean into Him, there will be peace even in the midst of what may seem to others like overwhelming circumstances.
In fact, that is precisely the point – His grace is meant not only to comfort us, but to be a witness to those around us of His power so people can be pointed to Him. We are not given strength to continue just so our friends can tell us how strong & amazing WE are, and how good we are doing in this midst of things. We are given that grace and peace so that we can point them to Christ so they have the ability to tap into that same power source.
God is the ultimate sustainable energy source and we have a charging station at the ready in all circumstances. We don’t have to wait until we are on “E” to recharge – keep yourself topped off and full so you are ready for whatever comes your way today, whether it be good or hard so we can praise God in all circumstances because of the God we serve.
“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28)
