You of little faith, why are you so afraid? (Matthew 8:26)
When you pray are you praying and hoping/asking for an answer or are you praying KNOWING you will get an answer?
Notice I am not saying that you praying knowing you get what you asked for, but that you will get an ANSWER.
As a child when we ask our parents for something the answers we hear are either “yes,” “no” or “later.” All of those are answers, yet as Christians we feel cheated when anything other than yes is what we hear or see.
We must have confidence and trust in the Lord that He knows what is best for us, even in the midst of a crisis. As King David wrote in Psalm 84: “Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer; listen to my plea for grace. In the day of my trouble I call upon you, for you answer me.”
There are countless Christians who can testify that it was only by knowing God was with them that they were able to get through what was happening in their lives – we live in a sinful world and are told there will he hard times. Being saved does not mean we are protected, it just means He is with us in this life and our eternal location is promised.
Oswald Chambers says “But it is when a crisis arises that we instantly reveal upon whom we rely. If we have been learning to worship God and to place our trust in Him, the crisis will reveal that we can go to the point of breaking, yet without breaking our confidence in Him.”
Many times it is only in hindsight will we be able to see clearly God’s hand in our lives. We must come to the point of absolute trust no matter what is swirling around us. Anything less points out where we need to shore up our faith.
“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28)
