Truly I tell you, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny. (Matthew 5:26)
There is no heaven with a little of hell in it,” George MacDonald wrote. God is determined to make you pure and holy and right. Not for one second will he allow you to escape the scrutiny of the Holy Spirit.
We’ve all been around an undisciplined child to see what havoc they can wreak on those around them. While we often see little children used as an analogy and example of innocence. They also show us what happens when a child has no boundaries or someone love them enough to correct and train them properly.
At it’s core what makes a child “spoiled” is usually them demanding their right to something they want. Tthey want things to go their way, ultimately demanding the right to themselves over others.
Be honest. How often do we do the same thing in our lives? Seeking to have things go our way if at all possible, rather than letting the needs and desires of others come first? Or do we stay justified in our position with someone rather than making sure the relationship is restored?
God loves us so much that our circumstances are engineered not for our earthly comfort, but for our eternal destination.
We all know that still small voice that tells us we ought to go talk to this do this thing or that thing, go talk to someone who we’ve wronged, etc. There is growth in store for us and the opportunity to demonstrate the love of Christ to others if only we take the steps we know are waiting for us.
