Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid. (Matthew 14:29-30)
We see what we want to see, and Peter when he got out of the boat he only saw Jesus and look what that gave him the power to do – walk on water! Then he noticed his surroundings and fear took him down.
Such is the case today. Who knows what God has in store for me today and the “water” I can walk on if I stay focused on Him. There is so much distraction going on around us, and the 24/7 news and social media cycle is part of satans plan to divide us from God, tempting us to allow cracks to enter into our faith and color how we see the world around us.
Fear is at the doorstep, but so is peace and joy – it comes from what “channel” we choose to tune in to. Will we be guided by the world or by the Word?
Seeing is never believing. we interpret what we see in the light of what we believe. Faith is confidence in God before you see God emerging; therefore the nature of faith is that it must be tried. (Oswald Chambers, from “He Shall Glorify Me”)
