Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
We bought our new house after loving the pictures of it. Once we moved here, what did we do? Start changing things! Inside and out, the house is different than what it looked like when it became our new home.
I think there is a lesson there for us as Christians: God loves us just the way we are, but He loves us too much to leave us that way.
Christ loved us enough to die for us when we were still sinners. Once we are saved he then sets about to “renovate” us and make us more like His vision for what we can become.
Unlike our house, we don’t have to cooperate in the process. We can resist and stay the same as we were before, but then we miss out on all He has for us.
if you own a home you know you are never truly done with home projects, and in the same way God is never truly done shaping us.
Think of how God looks at us – he sees what we can become and with only a few renovations to our mind and way of thinking we can be so much more clear minded.
Just imagine what we can be like if we fully submit to the changes He has in mind for us!
Remember that His changes aren’t just so we can feel better, but we must always be looking for His purposes – he doesn’t renovate just to increase our fair market value. He renovates to increase our Kingdom value.
