You will not need to fight in this battle. Stand firm, hold your position, and see the salvation of the Lord on your behalf, O Judah and Jerusalem.’ Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed. Tomorrow go out against them, and the Lord will be with you.” (2 Chronicles 20:17)
We are legends in our own minds when we give credit to ourselves for battles won by the Lord. At best, we can only claim victory by submission to Him and giving the battle over to Him to fight for us. If we don’t and step in to try to control or fight the battle ourselves. it may feel like victory but we have no idea where God intended on taking us. Sometimes what looks to us like a battle that must be won is really a valley we are to go through for a purpose we won’t see or understand until we are on the other side of it. Our victory often comes in submitting to Him the decision on whether we are meant to win that particular battle at all. We are near-sighted but as Christians needs to develop eyes for eternity so that we look for His kingdom purposes in our life.
I have no idea where the Lord will lead me next in life, but knowing He is with me fills me with hope and confidence. I also know that many times what looked like defeat in the short term was a blessing in the long term.
“The truth is we have nothing to fear and nothing to overcome because He is all in all and we are more than conquerors through Him. The recognition of this truth is not flattering to the worker’s sense of heroics, but it is amazingly glorifying to the work of Christ.” (Oswald Chambers from “Approved Unto God”)
